About Saengerfest
Every few years, choirs from across North America gather to celebrate the joy of Swiss song and in 2027, Saengerfest comes to Ottawa! The festival will bring together singers, musicians, and friends to share Swiss culture through music, food, and community. Rooted in tradition but alive with modern spirit, Ottawa’s Saengerfest will be a vibrant weekend of harmony, in every sense of the word.
A Little History:
The Montagna Singers
The Montagna Singers of Ottawa have been raising their voices and Swiss spirits for over half a century. Founded in 1975 by a group of Swiss-Canadians who simply loved to sing, the choir has grown into a joyful symbol of community and cultural pride.
In 2025, the Montagna Singers celebrated their 50th anniversary! Fifty years of harmonies, laughter, and friendship shared across stages, festivals, and potluck tables. What began as a homesick echo of the Alps has become a lasting Ottawa tradition, connecting generations through song and keeping Swiss music alive and well in the heart of Canada’s capital.
